These 5 celebrities all think they were “weird” when they were younger. Some say they simply looked funny as they grew into their adult bodies, while others say they had unusual interests or their behaviour was a bit different from the average kid their age. Dwayne Johnson
Dwayne felt his appearance was weird and he says he was also very awkward: “Oh man. I was a weird-looking kid. I was always tall, but I was awkward. By 10, 12 I was really tall, with this big Afro and these really soft features. I was mistaken for a girl all the time. I had this oddly shaped long body that looked like it was trying to break out all over the place. I looked like maybe I was a hermaphrodite.”
Ed felt that he didn’t fit in: ”I was a very, very weird child … Even if you have quirks and weirdness, you shouldn’t be worried about that … One of the cool kids from school now does my plumbing! That’s a fact! If you try to be the cool kid in class, you’ll end up very boring and doing plumbing for someone who apparently wasn’t that cool. Be yourself. Embrace your quirks. Being weird is a wonderful thing … I have a f***ing football team now, that’s pretty cool!”
Johnny says his interests were quite varied: “I was a weird kid. I wanted to be Bruce Lee. I wanted to be on a SWAT team. When I was five, I think I wanted to be Daniel Boone.”
Lea was a workaholic from a young age: “I was a weird kid. I was eight years old saying, ‘I don’t want a day off. I’d like to work everyday, please.'”
Mayim thinks she has always been weird and embraces it: “I was a weird kid. I was a weird teenager. I’m a weird adult. It’s funny because in some sense I feel like maybe I’m less of an impressive actor, because I’m strange in real life. But yeah, “character actor” works for me.”
