The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Golden State Warriors on Sunday in a Western Conference showdown. In three head-to-head meetings this season, the Lakers are 2-1 both straight up and against the spread when facing the Warriors.
Latest injury updates for Warriors vs. Lakers game
The Lakers are coming off a 110-102 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Following the loss, the Lakers are 11th in the West, one game behind 10th-place New Orleans.
The Lakers don’t have much room for error, and LeBron James won’t be back for at least three more weeks.
- injury update LeBron James
The Lakers’ medical staff found out Thursday that James hurt a tendon in his right foot. He will be re-evaluated in about three weeks, Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell says.
James hopes to be back by the end of March. He won’t have surgery because he thinks he can get better with rest and rehab.
In James’s absence, role players like Troy Brown, Lonnie Walker, and Rui Hachimura are likely to play more, while Anthony Davis (foot) and D’Angelo Russell (ankle) are expected to do more offensively.
D’Angelo Russell won’t be able to play against the Warriors on Sunday because of an ankle injury, says Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
Russell has had a sprained right ankle for a while, and Sunday will be the fifth game he has missed because of it. Dennis Schroder will be asked to make more plays for the Lakers. Austin Reaves, Lonnie Walker, and Troy Brown should also have bigger roles.
Russell will next have a chance to play on Tuesday, when the Grizzlies are in town.
- Anthony Davis – Probable vs. Warriors
Davis (foot) is also likely to play. AD is still bothered by an injury to his right foot, but he scored 38 points against the Timberwolves on Friday and has missed only one game since January 30.
During this time period, he’s averaged 33.7 minutes, 24.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 2 assists.

When they play the rival Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon to start a three-game trip, the Golden State Warriors are excited to have the superstars on their side for a change.
Stephen Curry has missed 11 games because of a partially torn ligament in his left knee. When the Warriors play the Lakers for the fourth and final time this season, Curry is expected to play again.
LeBron James is still out with a foot injury, so they won’t have to deal with him this time.
The last time two teams from the Western Conference who wanted to make the playoffs played each other, Curry was out and the Lakers won 124-111 at home without him. James was close to getting a triple-double, but he ended up with 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists instead.
Before that, Curry had scored 33 points more than James on the first night, when the Warriors gave out their 2022 championship rings and won 123-109.
- Will Curry return to lineup?
Then, they both didn’t play in the second game on February 11 in Los Angeles, which the Lakers won 109-103. Dennis Schroder had 26 points to lead the home team in that game.
While Curry has been out, the Warriors have gone 7-4. But they only won seven of those games at home. In between, they lost on the road at Portland and against both Los Angeles teams.
Chris Haynes of Turner Sports says that Curry (lower leg) plans to make his return Sunday against the Lakers.
Curry has missed the last 11 games for the Warriors because of an injury to his lower leg. He plans to miss the next two games against the Clippers and Pelicans and come back on Sunday, unless something goes wrong.
