The Golden State Warriors host the Los Angeles Lakers in a pivotal game-five matchup from the Chase Center on Wednesday night.
Injury Update Golden State Warriors – Los Angeles Lakers
After splitting the first two games of the series, the Lakers are now one game away from clinching a position in the Western Conference finals.
The Lakers have won five of their eight meetings this season, demonstrating their dominance in this matchup. There’s no doubt that this will be a must-see game for fans, especially with the series on the line.
The Warriors came back from a 2-0 deficit in their first-round series to win in seven games, but this appears to be a much more difficult task.
They need to sweep the next three games to get to the Western Conference playoffs after falling down 3-1.
They’ve already lost to the Lakers in the Chase Center twice this season.
The main issue appears to be a lack of consistency, especially given that they’ve used three different starting lineups in the four games so far.
Add to that a general lack of sound decision-making in critical situations, and it’s easy to see why they’re falling behind.
Stephen Curry finished Game 4 with 31 points (12-30 FG, 3-14 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds, 14 assists, and three steals.
Curry was far from efficient, yet he still managed to score a game-high 31 points. He also had double-digit assists for the second time this season and a playoff-high three steals.
The point guard has averaged 25.3 points, 8.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in the first four games against Los Angeles, but the Warriors are still down 3-1 as the series returns to Golden State.
This isn’t the first time Golden State has faced adversity, and it’ll be intriguing to see how they respond.
In this game, the Warriors are fully healthy. They could be missing up to three players, but none of it will change their fate on Wednesday night.
Patrick Baldwin Jr. is questionable with a toe injury, while Andre Iguodala (hand) and Ryan Rollins (foot) are out.
The Lakers have dominated this series and are only one win away from advancing to the next round.
Even though they have a losing record on the road this season, having already won at the Chase Center in this series should give them plenty of confidence.
According to Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both expected to play in Game 5 against the Warriors on Wednesday.
There are no shocks here, as the Lakers have had James and Anthony Davis (foot) listed as probable for several weeks.
Barring a setback, both stars are likely to play as the Lakers seek to wrap up the series.
The Lakers have been able to stay reasonably healthy this postseason, and it’s no wonder that their play has improved as they’ve had everyone available.
Mo Bamba (ankle) is still uncertain but unlikely to participate. With low usage, his absence is unlikely to affect the outcome of Game 5.
