The New York Knicks will be looking to get back on track when it travels to Los Angeles for the second game of a four-game road trip on Saturday afternoon.
Injury Update New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers
The Knicks have lost back-to-back games, falling to the Kings by five points to open the trip on Thursday. The Clippers, meanwhile, is on a five-game homestand that began with wins over the Grizzlies and the Raptors.
L.A. has struggled all year, and their most recent losing streak was a five-game slide at the end of February and beginning of March.
During that stretch, the Clippers faced a daunting schedule, losing to Sacramento (twice), Denver, Minnesota, and the eventual champions, the Golden State Warriors.
They beat Memphis by a respectable 135-129 score and then defeated Toronto by eight points on Wednesday to get back on track.
- Kawhi Leonard – Ready
Despite missing 28 games this year because of lingering knee soreness, Kawhi Leonard has been on fire as of late.
In 40 minutes against the Raptors on Wednesday, he scored 24 points (8-15 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 7-9 FT), grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out four assists, and swiped three steals.
Leonard had a productive offensive night and scored nearly a third of his points from the free throw line.
He’s also been putting in solid work on the glass recently, pulling down 10 or more boards in each of the last two games. On six separate occasions, Leonard has topped the 20-point mark.
Since January 31st, Paul George has started every game for the Clippers. The six-time All-NBA pick has scored 20 or more points in 11 of his last 13 games, including a season-high 42 in a win over Memphis, where he also pulled down 11 boards.
The Clippers’ roster has been healthy and nearly at full strength in recent games, while the Knicks’ starting five is up in the air. At Sacramento, Jalen Brunson scored 19 points but left the game after just 20 minutes due to aggravating a foot injury.
Before New York’s road trip began in Sacramento, Brunson missed the previous two games despite averaging a career-high 23.8 points per game and dishing out 6.1 assists per game.
