The latest injury update New York Knicks and LA Lakers

  • The Lakers

On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers won their third straight game with a 122-112 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

They have won all three games by at least eight points, improving to 18-15 at home and ninth place in the Western Conference. In their last 10, the Lakers are 7-3 ATS.

Russell (ankle) played all 31 minutes of Friday’s 122-112 victory over the Raptors and contributed 28 points (10-17 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Russell had missed the previous six games for the Lakers because of a sprained right ankle, but he came back strong in his first game action.

The veteran point guard led the Lakers with 28 points, 9 assists, and a 5-for-8 shooting performance from deep in 31 minutes. Russell performed brilliantly down the stretch, scoring 16 points and draining all four of his three-point attempts.

With LeBron James’s (foot) recovery from surgery still weeks away. The Lakers, who have been on a tear lately, are hoping to keep climbing the Western Conference standings, and they’ll be counting on Russell to share the offensive load with Anthony Davis.

  • Anthony Davis – Questionable

Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports that despite a right foot stress injury, Anthony Davis is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Knicks.

Davis was labeled as such before Friday’s game against the Raptors, as he typically is in the days leading up to games.

There is still little cause for concern regarding the star big man missing Sunday’s game, as he has played in four consecutive games and 15 of the last 16.

After scoring less than 10 points for the first time in a full game this season on Friday, Davis will be determined to get back on track on Sunday.

  • Update injury status LeBron James

According to Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, the Lakers’ medical staff determined Thursday that LeBron James has sustained a right foot tendon injury and will be re-evaluated in about two weeks.

James plans to forego surgery in favor of rest and rehabilitation in the hopes of returning by the end of March.

In James’ absence, the team is expected to rely more heavily on role players like Troy Brown, Lonnie Walker, and Rui Hachimura, while also increasing their usage of Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell.

Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports that Mo Bamba was diagnosed with a left high-ankle sprain on Thursday and will be re-evaluated in about four weeks.

Even if Bamba is given the green light to return to basketball activities at the end of the four-week period, he will almost certainly miss the rest of the regular season due to the severity of his injury.

In light of Bamba’s indefinite absence, Wenyen Gabriel has a better chance of becoming Anthony Davis’s uncontested No. 2 backup.

  • The Knicks

The Knicks’ most recent game was a 106-95 loss to Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers.

After getting hurt in a win against Miami on March 3, Brunson has missed three of the last four games.

On Thursday against the Kings, Brunson returned after missing the previous two games with an injured left foot, but he had to leave after only 19 minutes.
