Activating Dragon Pits is one of the first things you’ll do in Wild Hearts, and you’ll need Serpent Slough and Small Mist Crystals to do it. Here, we will outline the steps necessary to acquire them.
How to Get Serpent Slough in Wild Hearts
To obtain this material, travel to Natsukodachi Isle and use the detailed map to locate Whipthrash Serpents, defeat them, and loot Serpent Slough. They tend to congregate in the north near the Dragon Altar and the Coral Salt Swamp. If you pet them, they will instead drop Serpent Beard.
If you are unsure, you can use the Cyclopedia to see what obtainable materials have a chance to drop based on the Kemono. The Cyclopedia also indicates where they live.
How to get Small Mist Crystals in Wild Hearts
Small Mist Crystals spawn around the area on Harugasami Way. You should come across a lot of these crystals as you walk around Harugasami Way. So don’t worry about not having enough to go around at the start of the game; you’ll find them as you grind your way through the island’s kemono.
Small Mist Crystals can be found in a variety of locations. The screenshot below shows an example of one of these.
Get as many Small Mist Crystals and Serpent Slough as you can, because you’ll need them to open Dragon Pits. Don’t worry if you miss a Dragon Pit, though. You can enlarge it from the map. This means you can play without worrying and expand them whenever you find enough of the needed materials. Activating them is something you do have to track them down to do, however.
