SUMMARY
- Lamar Jackson
- Jalen Hurts
- Russell Wilson
Let’s get started.
1. Lamar Jackson
UPDATE: The Ravens have ruled Jackson (knee) out for Saturday’s game against the Falcons.
Jackson (knee) missed his second straight game due to a knee sprain last week. Harbaugh declined to comment on Jackson’s status during Monday’s press conference for competitive reasons.
With the Ravens falling out of first place in the AFC North, Jackson’s presence is essential if Baltimore is to stay in the race.
We’ll get a better sense of Jackson’s status as the week progresses by keeping an eye on the Ravens’ Week 16 injury report.
If Jackson is unable to play, Tyler Huntley will take his place against the Falcons. Huntley would have a better matchup, but he’s only a two-QB/superflex option. He’d also keep any potential value for Demarcus Robinson, Devin Duvernay, and DeSean Jackson at bay.
2. Jalen Hurts
UPDATE: Hurts (shoulder), who is expected to miss Saturday’s game against the Cowboys, is questionable for the Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Saints, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Hurts (shoulder) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Cowboys, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hurts injured his shoulder in the third quarter of Philadelphia’s 25-20 victory over Chicago. Hurts’ potential loss is a huge blow for fantasy owners who rely on him to deliver in the semifinals.
Schefter also stated that the injury is not expected to be long-term, and with the Eagles already assured of a playoff spot, there is no reason to play a less-than-100 percent Hurts, even in a rivalry game.
Furthermore, according to NBC Philadelphia’s John Clark, the x-rays were negative and nothing was broken.
With Hurts continuing to struggle, the Eagles will turn to backup Gardner Minshew. While Minshew is a capable backup, he’s a clear downgrade who could reduce the fantasy value of A.J.
Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert. Given the matchup, Minshew isn’t an ideal replacement for Hurts, but there aren’t many worthwhile, widely available sleepers this week.
3. Russell Wilson
UPDATE: Wilson (concussion) is not listed on the Week 16 injury report for the Rams game on Sunday.
Wilson (head) passed the league’s concussion protocol ahead of Denver’s Week 15 game against the Cardinals, but the team chose to rest Brett Rypien as a precaution.
Wilson is expected to return to game action this Saturday against the Rams after a full week of practice.
Wilson is still a risky play given his lack of consistency this season, but he was having his best game before getting hurt in Week 14.
Rypien will make his third start of the season if Wilson does not play for the second week in a row.Regardless of who starts at quarterback, Jerry Jeudy, Greg Dulcich, and Latavius Murray are the only Broncos worth starting this week.
