Vanguard Zombies Players Are Outraged That The Archon Is Nothing More Than A Green Terra Maledicta
Following Vanguard’s Shi No Numa, Zombies fans expected Season 5’s The Archon to deliver another brand-new Zombies map. Instead, the upcoming content is better described as a new Zombies experience, with players receiving a round-based version of Terra Maledicta from Season 2. The announcement appears to have outraged Zombies fans, with many expressing their disbelief.
With the release of Season 2 of Vanguard, a new zombies map called Terra Maledicta was added. When it first came out, players criticized it for being a dull zombies map that did nothing to improve their initial negative impression of Vanguard Zombies. Given the poor reception, the developers claim that they were committed to using player feedback to improve the Terra Maledicta experience in Season 5.
“Earlier this year, the Vanguard Zombies team received a mountain of constructive feedback around the launch of Terra Maledicta. As we digested everything we heard from the community, one request kept coming up over and over: the map’s Egyptian and Dark Aether settings would make for a killer round-based experience. We agreed!” This explains why they chose to give Terra Maledicta a round-based redesign in Season 5.
Unfortunately, the response from players so far has been just as negative as it was for the first Terra Maledicta. The Season 5 content, according to comments on the aforementioned post on the CODZombies subreddit, is shoddy. Another player questioned whether any new areas would be added to the map.
It’s still too early to make a final determination about the Zombies content in Season 5, but it’s safe to say that The Archon will need to be a truly exceptional experience to persuade players of their opinions.
