This week’s waiver wire recommendations are heavy on potential streamers at QB, WR, TE, and D/ST. With six teams on bye next week (the Giants, Cowboys, Steelers, Browns, 49ers, and Broncos), many fantasy owners will be looking for fill-ins.
Top 15 Waiver Wire Fantasy Football Pickups for Week 9
Summary
- Latavius Murray, RB, Broncos
- Andy Dalton, QB, Saints
1.Latavius Murray, RB, Broncos
Murray shared carries with Melvin Gordon early in Week 8, but he eventually served as the “closer” late, finishing with 46 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Gordon (nine carries, 29 yards) also scored a touchdown and had two more targets, but Murray isn’t going away.
2.Kenyan Drake, RB, Ravens
We’re at it again. Gus Edwards left the game early in Week 8 due to a hamstring injury, allowing Drake to put in another strong performance (seven carries, 62 yards, TD reception). Edwards is also dealing with the aftereffects of his torn ACL from last year, so Drake could see significant carries even if Edwards is active.
3.Caleb Huntley, RB, Falcons
A week after Tyler Allgeier dominated the Falcons’ carries, Huntley led the team in rushes, carrying the ball 15 times for 86 yards.
Huntley’s flex value should be high against the Chargers’ bottom-five RB defense. He creates whenever he has the opportunity.
4.Isiah Pacheco, RB, Chiefs
Pacheco struggled in his first NFL start in Week 7, but it appears that the Chiefs intend to use him more in the future.
5.Kyren Williams, RB, Rams
Williams is expected to play a “significant role” in the Rams’ offense once he recovers from an ankle injury suffered early in the season.
6.Ronnie Rivers, RB, Rams
Rivers surprisingly led the Rams in carries (8) and receptions (4) in Week 8, and while he only had 36 total yards, every “lead” back has value.
7.Greg Dulcich, TE, Broncos
Dulcich remains an important part of the Broncos offense, catching four of five targets for 87 yards in Week 8. In his three games this season, he has at least 11.1 PPR points.
8.Rondale Moore, WR, Cardinals
Moore rebounded from a poor Week 7 performance, catching seven of eight targets for 92 yards and a touchdown. Arizona will always throw a lot of passes, and Moore has established himself as the No. 2 wide receiver behind DeAndre Hopkins.
9.Evan Engram, TE, Jaguars

Engram has recently shown promise (55 yards, TD in Week 8; 29 targets in his last four games) and is developing into a reliable contributor for second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
10.Devin Duvernay, WR, Ravens
Regardless of who returns, Duvernay, who is only 53% owned in Yahoo leagues, has upside in Week 9 against a Saints defense that allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to WRs entering Week 8.
11.Isaiah Likely, TE, Ravens
After Mark Andrews left the game with a shoulder injury, he likely impressed on Thursday, catching six of seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown.
12.Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers
Hubbard (ankle) did not play in Week 8, but it’s worth noting that he started and saw the majority of Carolina’s early carries in Week 7. Don’t let him linger on the waiver wire. If he’s healthy, he’ll be at least a low-end flex in 12-team leagues against Cincinnati next week.
13.Treylon Burks, WR, Titans
The rookie wideout has been out for a long time due to a toe injury that landed him on injured reserve earlier this season. He is eligible to return in Week 9, and if he does, he will face the Chiefs’ 30th-ranked pass defense.
14.Justin Fields, QB, Bears
Fields is finally being used correctly in the Bears offense, making him a borderline QB1 option in fantasy heading into Week 9.
15.Andy Dalton, QB, Saints
Dalton has been playing well recently, and he faces a Baltimore defense in Week 9 that has allowed a lot of points and big plays through the air.
