The Chicago White Sox are not the most exciting team during any given offseason, but some late-night news may get people excited. This time, the rumor concerns Mike Clevinger.
Ken Rosenthal dropped a late-night nugget that has people talking
He stated on Twitter that they are interested in Mike Clevinger. He is a right-handed pitcher who would completely transform their rotation.
Clevinger began his career with Cleveland and played for them for parts of five seasons. In 2020, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, who have been his team ever since. He missed the entire year of 2021 due to Tommy Johnny and was still recovering in 2022.

He is now a free agent looking for a new place to call home. He’d be ideal for the White Sox. He’d be in the lineup alongside Dylan Cease, Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, and Michael Kopech. If they all pitch to their potential, the south siders could have an elite rotation.
Clevinger has demonstrated the ability to play at a high level. He’s been on some really good teams that made deep runs but fell just short.
Mike Clevinger isn’t going to be the savior, but he has the potential to be a very good pitcher.
To be honest, it would be the most White Sox move in history, but it would be exciting because of what Clevinger has accomplished in his career.
The White Sox were rumored to be interested in Clevinger in 2020, but it never materialized. After the season, they acquired Lance Lynn, and Clevinger was traded to the Padres.
Things have now come full circle, as he is rumored to be returning to Chicago. This would be fantastic.
