The Hooded Horse family now includes Xenonauts 2 and Heart of the Machine
This brings our portfolio to 17 titles, with 12 of them (including the two mentioned above) signed in 2022 alone as Hooded Horse’s plan for global dominance accelerates. Here are some specifics about our new collaborations:
Heart of the Machine is a city-building strategy game in reverse: instead of starting with a blank slate, you play as the world’s first sentient AI, booting up in a fully developed city that is unaware of your presence. What you do next is up to you; there are lots of resources to take advantage of, alliances to form, and weak people you may use to your advantage to achieve any objective you have in mind.
Since you are the machine and hold the power, it is really irrelevant whether or not humans survive. You get to decide whether the machine deity is a good guy or a dictatorial AI.
“I’ve been an indie developer for 13 years now, and in all that time I’ve been approached by a lot of publishers,” says Arcen founder Chris McElligott Park. “In today’s market, Hooded Horse is the first and only publisher I’ve seen that is remotely a fit, and I’ve been deeply impressed by them every step of the way so far.”
The turn-based strategy game Xenonauts, which debuted in 2014 and was modeled by the first X-COM, has a sequel called Xenonauts 2. This second entry was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in 2018, and it has since grown in popularity, with a release into Steam Early Access scheduled for early 2023.
In comparison to the first version, Xenonauts 2 has improved graphics, an expanded research tree, new aliens, and a more detailed Geoscape. You are in charge of a multinational military force entrusted with protecting Earth from alien attack. There will be many tense, tactical ground encounters with the aliens, but you also need to manage and keep an eye on the big picture as you strengthen your bases, armies, and scientific knowledge of this enigmatic enemy.
