Looking back on the preseason, the Brooklyn Nets appeared to be pleased with Kyrie Irving’s performance. Kevin Durant and Steve Nash were both praising Irving for his leadership, but the good times don’t last long with Kyrie Irving.
“Kyrie Irving Probably Knows” Bill Simmons admits
Kyrie Irving has landed in hot water after sharing a link to a contentious film that has been accused of promoting anti-Semitism, but Irving has stubbornly refused to back down.
He got into a heated argument with a reporter who accused him of promoting the film, despite the fact that putting it out on his Twitter account effectively amounts to doing so.
Nets owner Joe Tsai has also expressed his disappointment with Kyrie, saying he wants to sit down with him and explain to him that what he did was hurtful to many people.
Kyrie, on the other hand, does not appear to be the type to change his mind, and it appears that the Nets have grown tired of him at this point. Bill Simmons revealed on his podcast that the team has been attempting to trade the star guard.
“I do know that the Nets have tried to trade him for the last few weeks and I think he probably knows. I don’t think I’m reporting that, I think it’s pretty well-known around the league (that) there’s no takers.” via The Ringer.
Simmons claims that it is widely known that they are attempting to trade him, but there hasn’t been much coverage of this.
It also says a lot when he says they’ve been trying for weeks, implying that it was even before this new controversy.
Nobody should be surprised, however, that Irving has no takers. When they tried to trade him in the offseason, there was no market for him because even the Lakers didn’t seem to want him.
If the Lakers are unable to turn things around after this poor start, they may consider acquiring Kyrie, believing that LeBron will be able to handle him.
The Heat may also be tempted to make a move following their poor start, as they require some offensive firepower.
There are some intriguing trade scenarios involving these teams, but they would both be well aware that bringing him in would be a big risk, as it would be a true boom or bust move.
