To obtain silk, travel to the northwestern part of the region, near the NPC Lisandra, and then to the caves in the mountainous region. Look for Spider Cocoons, which are web-covered egg-shaped things found on the ground in caves and other dank areas. Flint Shears will be required to cut these down (or better).
If you don’t already have Flint Shears, you can make them with the following ingredients at the Stonecutter:
- 5x Fiber
- 5x Resin
- 8x Flint
- 5x Refined Wood

You have to kill hard-shelled bugs like Stag Beetles in the jungle or Cockroaches in the Graylands to get Heavy Chitin. This is a resource that is needed to make some of the best armor sets in the game, so you won’t find it early on. Instead, you’ll find it in the middle to late game, when you’ve built up your arsenal of items to take down these more challenging enemies.
In order to succeed in Smalland: Survive the Wilds, you’ll need to hone your crafting skills. Preparation is key to survival because animals lower on the food chain, such as ants, cockroaches, beetles, wasps, and spiders, view Smallfolk as a potential food source. Because of this, the ability to efficiently collect resources, distribute them, and upgrade and craft as you gain experience is crucial for surviving in Smalland.
