Party Animals appears to be nearing its official release, so read on to learn more about its release date, gameplay, trailer, and more.
Party Animals – Release date prediction
As of right now, early 2023 is when you can expect to see Party Animals released.
The Xbox version of the fighting game is now rated “Teen” by the ESRB, which is a sign that the game is almost ready.
In addition, Recreate claimed in a tweet following the Game Awards show that the game is coming “soon” and that a concrete release date will be announced in the “near future.” Given the game’s high anticipation, we believe Party Animals will be released in the first half of 2023.
Party Animals – Trailers
The first proper look at Party Animals came in its Steam trailer, which was released in June 2020. This trailer begins with animals driving in various vehicles across land and sea before transitioning to physics-based combat.
In June 2021, the game’s official console announcement trailer debuted at the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase. Unlike the first trailer, this one is noticeably more refined, revealing more gameplay, characters, and glimpses of the available game modes. We also learned that the game will be available on Game Pass at launch.
According to the trailers and screenshots on the official website, these little guys can use weapons, wrestle in the style of WWE, carry objects, and interact with their surroundings. Certain maps include moving trains, icy terrains, and black holes, allowing players to use these environmental hazards to eliminate the competition.
Party Animals – Gameplay
The majority of Party Animals gameplay we’ve seen has come from trailers. However, since the game’s initial reveal, Recreate Studios has literally rebuilt it from the ground up, and we’ve seen very little raw gameplay.
From the bits we’ve seen on the official Party Animals website, these little critters can carry objects and weapons, perform wrestling moves like those seen in WWE, and interact with the environment. We know from the trailers that certain maps feature moving trains, icy terrains, and black holes, allowing players to utilise these environmental hazards to erase the competition.
There will be a variety of weapons to choose from, including crossbows, tennis racquets, boomerangs, and nunchucks.
Party Animals – Game modes
Party Animals is known to include at least three game modes: Last Stand, Team Score, and Arcade.
Last Stand is exactly what it sounds like; the last dog, cat, or bunny team standing wins. In Team Score, you must defeat the opposing team by scoring more points in different games. Finally, Arcade provides a variety of modes across various maps with varying rules.
Party Animals – Character roster
There are currently 12 playable characters in the game:
- Bacon (pig)
- Barbie (gorilla)
- Carrot (bunny)
- Coco (crocodile)
- Harry (duck)
- Macchiato (cat)
- Morse (moose)
- Nemo (corgi)
- Otta (otter)
- Tiagra (tiger)
- Underbite (dinosaur)
- Valiente (bull)
Party Animals news
In the first developer log, the dev team expresses its desire to keep updating the game long after it has been released in order to include “all the animals we know in this animal universe.” Some of the concept art depicts yet-unconfirmed characters such as a walrus, a dodo, and a koala.
According to the second dev log, the game will have 12 maps at launch, with more to follow. This update also mentions split-screen multiplayer, which will be available for four local players.
The game will also be playable on the Steam Deck. Recreate says it hasn’t decided on graphical options yet, but it will most likely run at 30 FPS, which they consider “acceptable.”
That’s all we know about Party Animals so far.
