Olivia Munn was so impressed with Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o’s red carpet style that she decided to track down her stylist so she could look just as fashion-forward on the red carpet. Stylist Micaela Erlanger, who dresses Lupita and actress Michelle Dockery, is praised by Munn for giving her clients the chance to express their individuality while still helping them to stay on trend and find their perfect dress. Olivia said:
“When I saw Lupita on the red carpet in that red dress at the Golden Globes, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, who is that?’ I looked her up online and I saw all of her outfits … and I was looking at Michelle Dockery, [and] I was like, ‘I have to find out who Michaela is.’ I love that Michelle and Lupita have a distinct style. [Micaela] brought it out in them, they don’t all look the same.”
Olivia says it’s rare to find a stylist who doesn’t just want her to show off her body all of the time because it’s not what she is always interested in. The actress comments that she hates being pushed to be too sexy for the red carpet:
“It’s really hard to find people who see you the same way that you see yourself or how you want to be presented. I’m not the stick thin girl, I’ve got boobs and a butt. I get pushed into ‘sexy’, and I didn’t want to do that.”
Olivia adds that she still doesn’t feel completely comfortable on the red carpet but she hopes she can one day:
“I’m still evolving and I would love to get to a place where I finally feel comfortable, especially on the red carpet.”
