How to get the Sunshadow Staff in Octopath Traveler 2
Octopath Traveler 2 is brimming with secrets. One of the most sinister may be the STuFfeD Toy, which is in the possession of a Gavell boy.
Speak to the children just right of the kiln and beneath the city’s Inn during the day. There will be a total of three. The boys will complain about the little girl’s habit of telling terrifying stories. However, if you check the boy on the right’s inventory, you’ll notice he has an unique item, the STuFfeD Toy.
Scrutinize the boy and you’ll discover that he’s afraid of almost everything. He seeks assistance from his STuFfed Toy, who devours his soul piece by piece until he no longer feels fear. Ominous. You can’t, however, take away his toy. You’ll need to do something very specific instead.
Go outside of Gavell to the cliff on the far left. Wait until the time changes to night. You’ll be around for a long time. The boy will visit this cliff during the brief period between dusk and dawn.
Once he approaches, speak to him and use Temenos to coerce him. You’ll be fighting… something strange. A shadowy being. However, an entity with 15 Shields is more important. This monster’s name is Shadowy Boy, and it is extremely difficult. It not only has high damage attacks that can debuff, but it also has a move called Deadly Gaze. In four turns, Deadly Gaze will kill you.
If you are affected by Deadly Gaze, equip Temenos with Rise Again. Use your Latent Ability with the Scholar ability Elemental Barrage to break between three and five shields. Shadowy Boy is vulnerable to Staff, so focus all of your BP on him.
You’ll get some flavor text after defeating Shadowy Boy, which doesn’t explain why the entity is eating the boy’s soul, but whatever. Look for your new staff beneath the tree.
How to complete the Lingering Love sidequest in Octopath Traveler 2
Lingering Love is a pretty unique side story that you can finish without really putting in any effort or seeing the first part of the story. That is, if you are the type of person who will steal from and scrutinize any NPC before speaking to them, it could be over before it even begins.
There is a Dismal Woman in Stormhail. You can find a Treasured Necklace in her inventory. This quest will be completed if you steal it. You won’t even have to start another conversation. She’ll start talking to you right away and reach a conclusion based on your actions.
You’ll receive an Alluring Ribbon and 14,000 leaves as a reward for your efforts there. The Octopath Traveler 2 side story “Lingering Love” will then come to an end. From now on, she’ll be referred to as the Rejuvenated Woman.
