Octopath Traveler 2 Guide – How to complete the Proof of Justice sidequest
After you finish “Proof of Guilt” and “Proof of Innocence,” the “Proof of Justice” sidequest in Octopath Traveler 2 becomes available. It takes place at the Timberrain courthouse, just like the other three.
Meylan was the last person who saw Judge Astell alive. Everyone thinks that the guard in the courtroom did it. Meylan will be accused in the background, and if you talk to a Spectator, you can find out that judges are trying to frame him and get the “Proof of Justice” sidequest.
Before you leave, you should speak with some people at the courthouse. To begin, you should seek information from someone like Osvald. You’ll get a hint about visiting his aunt in New Delsta if you Scrutinize the Clerk. Then, on the right, speak with the Court Reporter. The person will mention throwing a murder weapon into a lake, where it will eventually end up on the Southern Timberrain Trail and in the ocean.
Since you’re already there, take the South Timberrain Trail first. This is a “recommended level 45” area, so proceed with caution if you are at a lower level. After crossing the bridge, proceed slightly north to the pier to cross the river. You should see the blue blinking of a hidden item near the rainbow and waterfall. That is the Stolen Sword you require to help prove Meylan’s innocence.
From there, go to New Delsta, then to New Delsta: Backstreets. A Dour Elderly Woman can be found on the road leading to the Game Parlor. That lady is Meylan’s aunt. You’ll need someone to scrutinize her or Hikari to bribe her. This will provide you with the information for the second piece of evidence.
Return to Timberrain with the information and stolen sword, and inform the Spectator of what you discovered during the day. This sidequest will come to an end once these two items are turned in. You will receive 30,000 leaves as well as a Fortifying Nut (L) and a Magic Nut (L).
