Here’s everything we’ve known so far about MW2 Ranked mode, including release date rumors, leaks, and what to expect in this mode.
MW2 ranked mode release date speculation
As of this writing, all we know is that Ranked Play will be available next year. We don’t have a specific date yet, but we believe it will be released around Season 2. This means that ranked could arrive as early as February 2023, when the second season of Modern Warfare 2 is expected to begin. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
What we do know for certain is that it will include the following as part of the mode.
- Competitive Modes
- Ranked Skill Divisions
- Visible Skill Ratings

- Competitive Rewards
How MW2 ranked mode could work ?
While nothing has been confirmed, a recent leak suggests that players will earn points for Ranked mode. As with any leak, take it with a grain of salt until we get the official word.
The ranked mode in MW2 could function similarly to the ranked system in Call of Duty Vanguard, which saw teams of four compete while adhering to CDL (Call of Duty League) rules. Each team earned Skill Rating points as they progressed, allowing them to advance through seven Skill Divisions.
It’s also important to point out that there was a Vanguard ranked mode beta event, which gives us some hope that MW2’s ranked mode will soon receive a similar beta.
It is unknown whether there will be any entry requirements for players to participate in the upcoming Ranked Mode. Apex Legends, for example, requires players to be at least level 20 in order to participate.
In the meantime, those looking to hone their skills and see where they stand can compete in the CDL Moshpit, which debuted at the start of Season 01. Certain weapons and equipment, like CDL, are prohibited, adding to the difficulty.
