Maya Jama has been “fighting for life” as she battles illness ahead of the premiere of Love Island.
The new series host is hoping to shake off her symptoms in time for the premiere of the new winter series.
She is due to begin presenting duties on ITV2 in a few days, but she is currently having a rough time at home.
The former Radio 1 star announced the news on social media while updating fans on her health.
This came after clips from her wild New Year’s Eve night out at Koko nightclub in Camden.
She captioned a photo of ginger shots and hot lemon tea, “Fighting for my life with this cold now though lol I am down!”
Maya is hoping to recover in time for the premiere of Love Island on Monday, January 16th in South Africa.
This will be Maya’s first series as the new host of “winter” Love Island.
Maya will succeed Laura Whitmore, who has decided to leave after the summer 2022 series.
Maya can be heard saying in the new promo trailer for the show, “It’s time to grab love by the horns, I’m ready, are you?”

In the new commercial, the stunning TV personality can be seen riding a mechanical pink bull.
This comes after it was revealed that ITV executives have reportedly increased security measures this time around.
Following security breaches this year, The Ludus Magnus villa will be fortified with high-voltage gates.
The massive £1.2million pad will also be manned by trained guards who will patrol all perimeters.
According to a source, there is a phone line linked to the local police station and private armed response.
“If any threat is larger than expected, the heavy cavalry would be on their way in seconds”. an insider said.
