French actress Marion Cotillard is starting to take over – her name is everywhere! She’s the latest Vogue cover girl, and speaks to the magazine on finding happiness as a mom. Although she is tired as typical new moms always are, Marion reveals that the happiness she feels gives her boundless energy:
“I’ve never been more exhausted. But I’ve never had more energy. This is the paradox of being happy. That’s where it comes from.”
As a child, Marion mixed with her parents’ theater friends who inspired and fascinated her at a young age, especially because they were free compared to other adults she knew of, and they were amazing artists:
“All my friends, their parents had jobs that were very repetitive—they would do every day the same thing. But my parents’ friends would go to a little town in France, the next day they would be in Peru, the next day they could be in Hong Kong. They were artists. They had freedom.”
Director Christopher Nolan, who worked with the actress on new Batman film ‘Dark Knight Rises’ says Marion is a person who makes you want to use up every bit of her because her talent doesn’t deserve to be wasted, which is why she was a challenge but yet rewarding to work with:
“The word challenging is thrown around as some kind of pejorative to mean an actor who’s difficult. But Marion is challenging in the true sense of the word. She’s so good you don’t want to waste that talent. You want to hold up your end.”
