After 27 years of working without missing a day, Kevin Ford couldn’t imagine what would happen after sharing something he was gifted from his job.
During the summer of 2022, Ford’s daughter, who started a GoFundMe account for him, used the funds to build a new house.
He shared the exciting news in a TikTok video, beginning, “I wanted to show you something. Something you made possible”. Then he panned over to show his new home, saying, “I know it’s not a mansion, but it’s mine.”
After thanks to everyone who helped him, he said that he never imagined being a homeowner and that now he is king of his own castle.
He said, “Now, my kids and my grandkids have some place to come visit me.”
“I just want to thank everybody for being a part of this miracle and for everything you’ve done for me, and you continue to do for me every day. This is truly the American dream. It’s a Christmas miracle.”
He told TMZ that he bought the house with the money raised from the GoFundMe page. It raised nearly $500,000, but Ford is walking away with $350,000 because GoFundMe takes a percentage.
For $175,000, he purchased a new house in Pahrump, Nevada, about an hour outside of Vegas. He gave some of the money left over from the fundraiser to his daughter, so she could use it for her own house, and the rest he put in the bank to save for retirement.
