Riot Games has announced a change to the top end rewards for the hit MOBA game’s Honor system, introducing a new skin line for players who demonstrate exemplary behavior throughout the LoL ranked season. Previous discussions have confirmed that players who reach the pinnacle of the game’s Honor system will receive a unique skin. The new LOL skin will be Three Honors Malzahar, and we’ve seen the new cosmetic for the first time.
New LOL Exclusived Skin – Three Honors Malzahar
Riot TimTamMonster, the product lead for League’s Behavioral Systems, provided the image below of Three Honors Malzahar. This is the first time we’ve seen Three Honors skins, and as the name implies, it appears that this cosmetic line will be limited to the game’s Honor system in the future. It appears to be similar to the annual Conqueror and Championship skin lines.
So, how can players ensure they earn as much Honor as possible in order to obtain this exclusive cosmetic? According to TimTamMonster, being consistently positive will put you in the good graces of the system. Furthermore, being a part of a match made team – rather than just your friends – will yield more Honor as a preventative measure against “Honor trading between friends.” Oh, and guess what happens if everyone on your match-made team honors another player? More Honor for you.
In addition, TimTamMonster points out that the queues that offer the most honor are ranked in a certain order:
- Ranked Solo and Ranked Flex
- Normals, ARAM, and event modes
- Co-op vs AI
What About The Older Honor Skins?
Those who have not yet claimed Grey Warwick and Medieval Twitch, the previous Honor rewards, may be wondering what will happen to them now that this new skin has been introduced. Riot TimTamMonster addressed the topic as well, saying that while the new Three Honors skins will take the place of the yearly chroma releases, players will still be able to purchase past chromas or those two skins using Honor Level 5 capsules.
“We also wanted to touch on the other rewards you get for Honor,” the post said. “Historically, we have added a new chroma for the Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick skins each year for players to choose from when they reach Honor 5. The Three Honors skin line is replacing these new chromas. Honor 5 capsules will still contain the token you can redeem for Twitch, Warwick, or their previous chromas.”
