Glee actress Lea Michele has been though a lot this year – she lost boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith to a drug overdose and has now spoken on how she is coping. Lea is currently launching her own music career and says she believes Cory would want her to pick herself up and continue working towards her goals in life. She admits that she is still trying to make sense of what happened but she is trying to move forward with her life at the same time:
‘I really feel like I’m still trying to figure out all of this. It’s been only a few months, but my mom has experienced a lot of loss in her life and she told me at one point, there is an empowerment that comes with grief – at some point you find it. It’s very hard but you will find it, and I think at a certain point you can choose to sort of fall from this or you can choose to rise. And that’s what I’m just trying to do my best for him, because I know that that’s what he would have wanted.”
Lea adds that although she has gone though a difficult year she is trying to stay positive and she’s keeping her family and friends close. She reveals that actress Kate Hudson even offered her a refuge after Cory’s death where she could go to be alone and quietly mourn Cory’s death before going home to her own house:
”It’s certainly been a pretty rough year, but I’ve been surrounded by such great people, such great family … Kate was so wonderful to basically give her home to myself and my family. It was so helpful to just basically have a safe place to process and just have a minute to just breathe before getting back to my house, which just has a lot of memories and stuff, so being someplace else to just have a moment was really nice … I’m just so thankful to her.”
