The Hornets are 10-28 on the season. In addition, they currently hold the 14th seed in the Western Conference. Despite the Hornets’ struggles, LaMelo Ball has put together an outstanding season.

Ball will be among a select group of players when the Hornets take on the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Ball assisted on Jalen McDaniels‘ three-point shot in the second quarter.

Ball earned his 1,000th assist of his career with McDaniels’ shot. He became the fourth youngest player in NBA history to reach this milestone at the age of 21.

Despite the Hornets’ struggles this season, LaMelo Ball has been a shining light. Following his explosive sophomore season, the third-year point guard has improved in nearly every way.

LaMelo Ball appeared in 75 games during his sophomore season. He finished the season with 20.1 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.6 steals. He also shot well, averaging 42.9% from the field and 38.9% from behind the three-point line.

Ball is having the best season of his young career in his third season. He has fully established himself on the court after missing the start of the season due to an ankle injury. In 14 games, he has averaged 23.7 points per game, 1.3 assists per game, 7.8 assists per game, and 6.0 rebounds per game.

While the Hornets have not had much success this season, they appear to be on the right track. With LaMelo Ball at the helm, they could be one of the NBA’s most competitive teams in the future.
