Australian singer Kylie Minogue is working with the Marchesa designers to create her new tour wardrobe after they previously collaborated on a gown for Kylie to wear to the MET Ball in the past. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the two designers behind the label, said they were thrilled to be asked by the singer to create her costumes and collaborated closely with her on the special pieces:
”When Kylie approached us to design her costume for her European tour, we jumped at the opportunity. Kylie is lovely to work with and we were thrilled to work with her again – this project was definitely a collaborative process. Kylie liked a gown that we designed for our spring/summer 2012 collection, and we used that as a starting point and began sketching a few options for her review.”
They added that they were challenged to create something that would look beautiful and also be functional as Kylie moves around on stage. They explained:
”We were careful to keep her needs in mind while designing, as her costume would need to be both comfortable and easy to move in for her performances.”
Kylie said that a particular gown stands out to her as one of the best items for the show because it just works so well with the mood. She gushed about working with the design duo:
”I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Marchesa. They have created a stunning couture gown, which absolutely shines during a beautiful moment in the show. Working with the Marchesa team has been a lot of fun. Georgina and Keren are true delights.”
