Injury Updates for Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs

THE SUNS

Phoenix’s (43-35) roster is starting to take shape as the regular season nears its conclusion.

The Suns showed their strength on the road against the Thunder on Sunday, winning 128-118 behind 35 points from Kevin Durant for Phoenix’s longest winning streak since November.

Durant scored 30 points for the third time in a Suns uniform and for the second game in a row.

Durant, who missed three weeks due to an ankle sprain, looked rusty in his comeback last Wednesday, but has since regained his top form and is primed for a strong end to the regular season and the Suns’ upcoming postseason run.

Against Thunder, Devin Booker scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists, while Deandre Ayton added 19 points and 11 boards and Chris Paul dished out 16 points and 8 assists.

The Suns are still in fourth place in the West and are three games ahead of the Lakers and the Pelicans in the race to get the guaranteed playoff spots for the conference without having to play in the play-in tournament.

With Durant in the lineup, Phoenix is shaping up to be the powerhouse many predicted it would be. When Durant plays, the Suns are undefeated (6-0).

Phoenix has swept the first two meetings with the Spurs this season and has won eight consecutive games against San Antonio dating all the way back to May of 2021.

THE SPURS

The Spurs (20-58) ended a six-game losing streak with a thrilling 142-134 overtime victory in Sacramento on Sunday.

Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and Keldon Johnson were all injured and unable to play for San Antonio.

Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com writes that Johnson’s status for Tuesday’s game in Phoenix due to a foot injury is questionable.

Although Johnson has missed six of the last eight games with a foot ailment, Keita Bates-Diop and Doug McDermott should continue to see increased playing time in his absence on Tuesday.
