Keith Lemon, star of Celebrity Juice, has spoken out about his co-star Laura Whitmore’s exit from Love Island, as well as his opinions on Maya Jama taking over as host.
Maya Jama is officially announced as the new host of Love Island
Keith Lemon has spoken out about Maya Jama taking over as Love Island host in place of Laura Whitmore.
Maya was announced as the new host of the ITV2 dating show earlier this month, after being heavily tipped to succeed the Irish star.
Maya will travel to South Africa to film the ninth season of the show, which will air in January 2023, according to ITV.
Keith, real name Leigh, is friends with both Laura and Maya, having worked with them on ITV’s Celebrity Juice, which officially ended this year.
Some fans may have been left wondering what he really thinks of Maya taking over for Laura, and whether she’s the right person for the job.
Keith spoke exclusively to the Daily Star at the Pride of Britain Awards, which were held on Monday night at London’s Grosvenor House (October 24).
When asked how he thought Maya would do as the new host, Keith was effusive in his praise.
He said: “I think she’s going to be amazing. She’s the right person. After Whitmore she’s the right person, isn’t she?”
“Whitmore’s put her Love Island crown and yeah,” before adding: “I love Maya to death.”
Lucy Montgomery received the Teenager of Courage award from Leigh after she rescued a family friend, Mathieu, and her father, Graham, who cannot swim, after they were dragged out while paddle-boarding in France.
Maya stated about hosting the show: I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favorite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”
