Katy Perry has stayed pretty quiet about her relationship with John Mayer up until now, but the singer has finally spoken on the subject. She reveals that the couple often have to take “vocal rest” days to ensure their voices stay in top condition and so their house can be completely silent:
”Some days I have to go on complete vocal rest, like no anything, no whispering. Whispering is actually really bad. There’s just a lot of silence in our house most of the time.”
John underwent vocal surgery previously and Katy was surprised to find that he was stuck communicating with his iPad:
”I understood that he couldn’t talk, and the only way he could communicate was through an iPad.”
Katy says that she believes the key to a successful relationship is learning how to compromise so that you can work through your problems as a couple. She also says that she luckily sees eye-to-eye with John most of the time because they are both very passionate about their music and have a great connection:
”I think when two people are involved, someone other than yourself, you have to figure out a compromise in a good way. And there’s a lot of respect. We have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect, and you know it’s like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it’s been tough, I don’t really have to go into it. He just gets it. You know, so it’s nice with that understanding.”
