Kareem Hunt’s trade value will be reduced when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. But that hasn’t stopped Cleveland Browns from asking for a big return.
The Cleveland Browns will be unable to re-sign Kareem Hunt
The Cleveland Browns are on the outside looking in when it comes to playoff contention, with a 2-5 record. While a number of teams have started with that record and advanced to the playoffs, the Browns may be ready to let go of one of their running backs.
Kareem Hunt is expected to be the best running back on the market following the Christian McCaffrey trade. While McCaffrey’s trade may have aided the Browns’ pursuit of Hunt, the two players are vastly different. The contract includes the primary, at least in terms of trade value. McCaffrey’s contract has several years left on it, and the Carolina Panthers took on a sizable portion of the salary cap hit in the trade.
According to a league source, the Browns want a haul akin to Christian McCaffrey’s. That is excessive, but it appears to be the Browns’ situation.
Hunt’s trade value will be reduced when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season. According to reports, Cleveland is still demanding a large sum of money.
Finally, according to PFT, a Browns victory on Monday Night Football could influence their willingness to trade Hunt. If Cleveland does part ways with their backup running back, the return is unlikely to pique the interest of fans.
