Jonah Hill shows off his excellent surfing talents in Malibu.

When Jonah Hill hit the waves in Malibu over the weekend, he looked almost unrecognizable.

Jonah Hill impresses with his surfing prowess in Malibu just three years after mastering his lifelong phobia of riding waves

The actor/director got a nice tan and showed off his surfing talents while out on the Pacific Ocean. He sported a lengthy, scruffy beard and mustache.

Temperatures reached the mid-80s Fahrenheit inland from Los Angeles, but the coastline in the Malibu area was a cool 60 degrees.

The Superbad actor dressed for the occasion in a sleek black full-body wetsuit.

Despite his proximity to the beaches of Southern California, Hill never became a surfer. Hill has stated that he was too timid as a child to try it for himself.

However, in August of 2019, he made the decision to overcome his phobia, a fact he expressed in a now-deleted Instagram post.

‘Been terrified to surf my whole life. Totally random fear and at the same time always been a secret dream of mine,’

‘Turned out to be one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had. Not only was it so fun and challenging but more so I’m like damn, at 35 you can start doing s**t you’ve always wanted to do,’ he explained at the time.

And judging by his weekend trip to Malibu, the Mid90s writer and director has not only conquered his concerns but also developed genuine surfing abilities.

Hill paddled out and, like any good surfer would do, waited for the perfect wave before he rode it.

The actor from This Is the End went in, spread his arms for balance, and rode a wave with the ease of a seasoned pro all the way to the beach.

Hill got a good workout swimming in the ocean, so he changed into black slacks, a baby blue t-shirt, flip flops, and a white baseball cap and walked to the nearest juice bar.

Hill, who has recently discovered a passion for surfing thanks to the encouragement of filmmaker Spike Jonze and Beastie Boys singer Mike Diamond, has formed an organization called Surf Jews California.

‘When I started doing research on surf culture in Malibu, there was a big surf Nazi culture. It’s almost like irony poisoning, kind of like 80s surf culture,’ he shared in an interview with GQ.

‘Basically all their dads fought in World War II against the Nazis, so they were being punk and like, “F**k out parents so we’re going to be surf Nazis.” But then, of course, irony seeps in,’ he added.

But I was obviously like, “F**k”, all this classic Malibu surf imagery has swastikas on it”, which is so gnarly and f**ked up, so I was like, “Yo, we should start Surf Jews so there’s all this imagery of like opposite of swastikas essentially,”‘ he said while holding up a sticker of the group’s logo that resembles the Star of David.

‘It’s really fun and funny, and silly and not meant to be serious in the slightest. I’m sure I’ll get canceled for having a Jewish star or yin-yang or something.

‘But I don’t know, it’s all to have a good time.’
