Jessica Alba previously made a comment on how she wore a corset to help her regain her figure after giving birth to her youngest daughter Haven. Although she didn’t explain much at the time why she thought it was a good idea, she has now opened up on the benefits she believes corset-wearing had after giving birth. She says it is common practice in some places and she reveals that while she doesn’t think it helps lose weight, she believes it helps the body bounce back quicker:
“It’s not that big of a deal. A lot of people do it; it’s really common. A friend suggested it—it’s something that people do in Africa and India and it’s not an uncommon thing—though they usually just wrap it with cloth. It just puts your stomach muscles and all your organs [back into place]. So it’s just to give your body muscle memory of where it was, but you don’t lose weight or anything. You have to diet and exercise for that.”
Commenting on starting The Honest Company which supplies natural products for babies and adults too, Jessica says that the business took her a while to figure out and it didn’t launch overnight. She reveals that it took three years and plenty of her own capital to make it work:
“It took me three years of spending my own money, pounding the pavement, getting doors closed in my face and people thinking I was nuts. But then I found the right partners, we put together a great deck and once we streamlined the concept, the design aspect and the business model, it was really easy for people to understand.”
