Jagged Alliance 3 presents players with intense battles, and the fight to save Biff Apscott at Hill Station is one of the toughest. Utilizing smart preparation and positioning is key to surviving the onslaught.
Jagged Alliance 3: Surviving the Hill Station Battle
Preparation is Key
The key is intercepting the Legion squad heading to the Hill Station before the battle begins. Taking them out ahead of time means fewer enemies to deal with.
Bring at least two long-range mercenaries with high marksmanship skills to position on top of the billboard overlooking the area. The best combo is a sniper and heavy machine gunner.
After reaching A8, hold off on approaching Biff to trigger the battle. This allows time to loot the area and set up positions. Bringing multiple merc squads of up to 10 members helps too.
Once snipers are set up on the billboard, spread remaining mercenaries out to cover the flanks near the diner and cabins where enemies emerge.
Battling the Waves
With your long-range mercenaries stationed on the billboard, distribute the rest of your forces along the two flanks, anticipating enemy waves from the diner direction and the nearby cabins.
As the fight unfolds, be mindful of enemies targeting Biff, who often remains unprotected. While saving him is important, your primary goal is to secure an overall victory. Keep your mercenaries as safe as possible, avoiding going prone, as enemies may call in bombardments that require swift action to escape the danger zone.
The initial two waves are relatively manageable, and your billboard-based mercs will eliminate most enemies. Mop up any remaining foes with your flank defenders, preparing for the third and most challenging wave.
If you didn’t forge a friendship with the communists by visiting Pantagruel earlier, expect Chimurenga and his squad to appear during this stage. If you fail to persuade Biff to surrender the green emerald, you’ll have to engage in combat with Chimurenga’s forces. In some instances, Chimurenga may kill Biff, allowing you to loot the diamond afterward.
After resolving the conflict with Chimurenga, the third Legion wave will arrive. Defeat them just as you did with the previous waves. If the enemy calls for artillery on the billboard, position your mercs at the platform’s far edges to avoid being hit.
Aftermath
If Biff lives, he’ll try to escape with the diamond. Players can either let him flee with it, or kill him and retrieve the gem themselves. Either way nets a solid reward – $50k for the diamond or 3 militia deployments from Emma.
With these strategies in mind, you’ll be better equipped to tackle the challenging battle at Hill Station in Jagged Alliance 3. Take command of your mercenaries, plan your moves wisely, and achieve victory in this gripping encounter. Good luck, Commander!
