Players will encounter Biff Apscott at the Hill Station, where a tough battle awaits. Initially, there is no way to avoid this confrontation, and players must strategize and fight their way through the encounter.
After the intense Hill Station battle, players will have an opportunity to negotiate with Biff Apscott for the Green Diamond, rather than resorting to violence. To convince him to hand it over, players must bring a MERC teammate along. Two options present themselves for this: Larry and Smiley.
Recruiting Smiley and the Challenges Ahead
One potential teammate is Smiley, who requires players to go through a series of challenges before he agrees to join the team. This culminates in a massive battle at Boss Blaubert’s place. However, players might find Smiley’s abilities somewhat underwhelming, which could affect their decision to bring him along for the negotiation.
Recruiting Larry and the Rehabilitation Process
The other option is Larry, who is relatively easier to recruit. However, merely having him in the party is not sufficient for securing the Green Diamond peacefully. Larry needs to be rehabilitated first, as he tends to go on wild rants referencing the Lord of the Rings. Successfully rehabilitating Larry is essential for the negotiation process with Biff.
Handling the Green Diamond
Once players have managed to convince Biff Apscott to hand over the Green Diamond peacefully, they face a crucial decision regarding what to do with it. The options are as follows:
- Cash in the Diamond: Players can choose to sell the Green Diamond for a substantial sum of $50,000. This option provides immediate financial rewards, which can be useful for various in-game purposes.
- Museum Donation: Alternatively, players can decide to turn in the Green Diamond to Emma for the Museum of the Adjani. This choice allows players to select three packs of reinforcements to place strategically. The decisions made regarding the diamond’s fate will influence the ending slide of the game.
How to get Lucky Veinard’s Hidden Treasures in Jagged Alliance 3
To unearth all of Lucky Veinard’s treasures, you’ll need characters with high Wisdom and Strength, totaling over 80 between them. Don’t worry if these attributes aren’t concentrated in a single mercenary; you can recruit a combination of characters with high Wisdom and Strength to fulfill the requirements.
Once prepared, follow these steps to claim the treasures:
- Mfumu’s Mine (H7) – The first treasure is buried next to a tree near Veinard. Look for the tree on the opposite side of the dig site from him. Interact with the soil underneath it.
- Broken Hill Cemetery (C3) – Exhaust Veinard’s dialogue until he mentions “Ice” and “Angels.” Inspect gravestones until finding “Angel Eyes,” then dig it up.
- Burial Grounds (J11) – Veinard mentions a ritual book. Find the book on a ledge and read it for a clue about an empty ritual stone. Find and interact with the empty stone.
- Archaeological Site (E14) – Veinard mentions a three-headed statue. Face the statue and follow the direction the left head is facing into a thicket. Dig there.
- Farmland (K18) – After finding at least 2 treasures above, talk to Veinard here for the next clue. Beware the Teddy Bear Killer mission interfering with spawns here.
