Isla Fisher was just one of the lucky stars who was cast in the upcoming ‘The Great Gatsby’ film directed by the legendary Baz Luhrmann. She admits that being a part of the film scared her because she often felt she wasn’t worthy of being there and at times even felt “terrified” because it was so intense. She also admits that the film put her out of her comfort zone because it isn’t the usual type of film she works on:
“It was thrilling and terrifying. Given the caliber of the director and cast on Gatsby, I definitely felt out of my comfort zone. I did feel like I was going to be called out and sent home at some point–you always feel very insecure, at least I do. The set was like a playground of rich costumes (his wife Catherine Martin does them) and color and music and laughter. Everybody cares on a Baz Luhrmann film set because everyone is so effing grateful to be there.”
Speaking openly on being a working mom, Isla says candidly that she doesn’t think moms who work can have it all but she also believes taking time out of her career was an extremely important and satisfying thing to do because she got to be with her children and now she is ready to work on her own career again so she doesn’t feel as though she has missed out despite the break:
“I took three years off. It’s not like you’re taking a break and looking on IMDbPro to see your StarMeter falling. You’re doing the most important, incredible thing. When you come back in, the perspective has changed. I truly believe you can’t have it all and you shouldn’t want to.”
