The Miami Heat (32-26) will play the Brooklyn Nets (33-24) in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday. Game time in the Barclays Center is 7:30 PM EST. The Nets won the first meeting between these two teams, 102-101.
Updates Injury for Miami Heat – Brooklyn Nets
Every team wants to stay out of the play-in round, and whether the Brooklyn Nets or Miami Heat end up there depends on how their last game before the All-Star break goes.
Both teams are currently safe from the play-in round, but a bad stretch could easily drop them in the Eastern Conference standings. On Wednesday night, the Nets will host the sixth-place Heat and try to strengthen their hold on fifth place.
Brooklyn doesn’t have to play in the play-in game because between December 7 and January 8, it went on a 12-game winning streak and won 14 of 15 games.
The last of these games was a win at Miami on January 8 by a score of 102-101. During the third quarter of that game, Kevin Durant hurt his right knee when he ran into Jimmy Butler.
When Durant got hurt, the Nets were second in the East, one game behind the Boston Celtics. They had a record of 27-13. Since then, Brooklyn has lost 11 of its last 17 games and is now in fifth place, 3 1/2 games behind fourth-place Cleveland.
THE HEAT
Previously, the Miami Heat was defeated by the Denver Nuggets by a score of 112.08. As a result, they will need to improve their defensive play if they hope to beat the Nets on the road.
Injury Report Heat: Tyler Herro SG (Knee) is questionable. Omer Yurtseven C (Ankle), Duncan Robinson SF (Finger), Nikola Jovic SF (Back), Kyle Lowry PG (Knee), and Victor Oladipo SG (Ankle) are out.
- Tyler Herro – Out vs. Nets
According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Tyler Herro will not play on Wednesday against Brooklyn due to a knee injury.
Due to a sore left knee, Herro will miss the Heat’s final game before the All-Star break and won’t play again until February 24 against the Bucks.
However, he will most likely take part in the three-point contest, as he was chosen for it on Tuesday.
Without Kyle Lowry (knee) and Victor Oladipo (knee), coaches will likely continue giving Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin, and Jamaree Bouyea more playing time on Wednesday.
THE NETS
Coming off a 132-106 loss to the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets are looking to bounce back. They struggled on offense and defense in the second half, so they’ll need to improve their efficiency if they want to win this game at home.
- Update Seth Curry’s injury status
According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, Seth Curry (thigh) is not listed on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Heat.
He has been out for the past five games with a strained left adductor, but it looks like he’ll be ready to play again on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how he fits into Brooklyn’s new-look lineup in his first game since Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant left the team.
Prior to his injury, Curry had started the previous four games, averaging 9.0 points, 1.3 assists, and 25.0 minutes per game.
Injury reports Nets: None.
