Andrews (knee) is officially listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s home game against the Browns. Andrews did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, but he did participate in a limited capacity on Friday.
Is Mark Andrews (knee) going to play in Week 7? Update on Ravens-Browns fantasy injuries
UPDATE: Andrews is expected to play against Cleveland, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter late Saturday night.
Andrews had a “rest day” on Wednesday, according to head coach John Harbaugh, but he appeared to miss practice on Thursday due to a knee injury. Andrews told the media, “My body feels good,” according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensely. “I’m all set.”
Mark Andrews is off to another strong start this season, but a knee injury complicates his availability. Andrews is a set-it-and-forget-it TE1 when healthy, so his playing status has a big impact on fantasy start/sit decisions.
If Andrews is available, he’s a must-start in all formats, and he’s SN Fantasy’s No. 1 overall tight end in standard and PPR formats. Andrews leads all TEs in targets (57), route participation (98.3 percent), air yards (641), and yards per route run entering Week 7. (2.56). He is unquestionably Baltimore’s top receiving option, capable of racking up 100 yards and a touchdown every week. If Andrews is ruled out for Week 7, backup Isaiah Likely would be a viable streaming option, with six or more targets. Lamar Jackson’s fantasy value drops slightly, but there’s no reason to bench him.
Darren Waller (hamstring) has already been ruled out, and the Week 7 TE rankings are already thin, with Dallas Goedert, Dawson Knox, Tyler Higbee, and Irv Smith Jr. on bye. If Andrews is ruled out, a waiver-wire sleeper like Ravens backup Isaiah Likely could crack starting lineups.
Despite Cleveland allowing the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends (7.8), Andrews’ owners shouldn’t be concerned about a tougher matchup. He’s received double-digit targets in all but two games this season, and he’s only scored fewer than 10 PPR fantasy points once. Andrews is as reliable as tight end gets, and even if he isn’t 100 percent, his ability to be a safety blanket for Jackson makes him the overall TE1 or TE2 in Week 7.
