The (17-43) Charlotte Hornets will go to Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Friday to play the (31-30) Minnesota Timberwolves. Inside the Target Center, the game will start at 8:00 PM EST.
Hornets vs. Timberwolves injuries: 3 Questionable, 2 Out
The All-Star break is over, so the Minnesota Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets will play each other again in a regular season game on Friday in Minneapolis.
This will be the second time these two teams play each other during the regular season. The last time, the Hornets won 110-108.
Before they head out on the road for four important games starting on Sunday, they will play at home on Friday. On the trip, Minnesota plays all of the NBA’s California teams, and three of them are in a position to make the playoffs right now.
The last time Minnesota played, they lost 114-106 to the Washington Wizards. They had trouble scoring, so they’ll need to be more effective in this game if they want to take care of business at home.
The Timberwolves will be ready for the play-in round when they get back from their break. They are eighth in the Western Conference and only half a game behind sixth place. However, they are only 1 1/2 games ahead of Utah, which is the last team in the West to be eliminated from the play-in round.
In the last six weeks of the regular season, Minnesota may make more changes to its roster, including putting Karl-Anthony Towns back into the starting lineup. The Athletic reported on February 17 that Towns could come back for the last 10–15 games of the season. He has been out since November 30 with a calf injury.
In the meantime, Anthony Edwards, who is an All-Star, is still the most important player for Minnesota. Edwards averages 24.9 points per game, which is the most on his team. He has played in all 61 games this season.
The third-year star Edwards had scored 31 or more points in three of his last four games, including 34 against Washington his last time out.
The last time Charlotte played, on November 25, Edwards scored 25 points. At that game, the Hornets were without LaMelo Ball, who is also in the 2020 draft class.
Ball won the Rookie of the Year award for the 2020-21 season instead of Edwards. He currently leads Charlotte in points and assists per game with 23.3 and 8.4, respectively.
Ball helped the Hornets win their last two games before the break. Against the Atlanta Hawks, he had 30 points, 15 assists, and six rebounds. Against the San Antonio Spurs, he had 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Hornets won 120-110 against the San Antonio Spurs in their last game. They played well on both ends of the court. If they want to beat the Timberwolves on the road, they will have to keep it up in this game.
The Hornets come out of the break with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference and are 11 1/2 games behind the last play-in spot. But if Charlotte wins in Minnesota, they will have won three straight games, which is something they haven’t done yet this season.

Martin (knee) is not expected to play in this game. He has only played in seven games this season, and six of those were in the middle of January. It is still unclear when he might play again.
Since Dec. 29, Oubre hasn’t played. On January 5, he had surgery to fix an injury to his left hand. He was having trouble making any progress in rehab. But the lefty forward was better off with more time off during the All-Star break.
Since Oubre’s injury didn’t happen in his lower body, he shouldn’t have to worry about his fitness when he comes back, but he may be rusty offensively.
Rozier didn’t play in the Hornets’ last game before the All-Star break because he had sprained his right hand, but he’ll probably be back when the team plays again on Friday.
In his last 10 games, he’s averaged 35.2 minutes, 23.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 steals.
