The Grizzlies are riding a five-game winning streak and looking to secure the Western Conference’s top playoff seed when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks.

This is the final game between Memphis and Atlanta this season. On December 12 in Memphis, the Grizzlies triumphed 128-103. Atlanta was without Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, Clint Capela and Bogdan Bogdanovic, while the Grizzlies played without Ja Morant.

Despite losing eight of nine games between the end of January and the start of February, the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the NBA’s hottest teams ever since.

The Grizzlies (46-27) are currently in second place in the Western Conference, 3.5 games behind Denver with 9 to play. Memphis has already secured a postseason berth and won the Southwest Division for a second year in a row. The Grizzlies recently defeated the Rockets by a score of 151-114.

Despite missing their star guard Ja Morant for most of that time due to suspension, Memphis have won eight of their last nine games.

The Grizzlies are gradually reintroducing Morant to the starting lineup after an eight-game suspension for posting a video in which he was seen waving a gun at a Denver nightclub.

Morant, who normally starts and averages 26.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game, has scored 35 points and dished out 13 assists in two games off the bench since his return.

  • ATLANTA HAWKS

Inconsistency has plagued Atlanta all season long, and it may prove to be the team’s undoing. Since January 20, when they ended a five-game winning streak, the Hawks have not won or lost more than two consecutive games.

Every one of their last six games has been a close call, with a 125-124 loss at Minnesota being followed by a 143-130 victory over Indiana on Saturday.

On Saturday’s game against the Pacers, Trae Young was ejected in the third quarter for violently throwing the ball at a referee.

In 21 minutes of action, he scored 14 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), dished out five assists, pulled down three boards, and stole a single ball.

Because of his anger over the offensive foul call, Young threw the ball at the official. The point guard now has 15 technical fouls on the season and will be suspended for one game without further review.
