Elijah Mitchell has been officially activated from the injured reserve list and is expected to play against the Chargers on Sunday night. Aside from him, there are numerous names on both teams’ injury lists prior to the game. Let’s take a look at it together.
Fantasy Injury Report for the LA Chargers – San Francisco 49ers
After a strong rookie season, Elijah Mitchell was expected to really break out this year, but he was sidelined for two months after suffering a knee injury in Week 1.
The 49ers started Jeff Wilson Jr. and traded for star running back Christian McCaffrey over the next eight weeks. Now, McCaffrey is safely atop the 49ers’ depth chart, while Wilson Jr. is atop the Dolphins’ following a midseason trade.
That allows Mitchell to be the primary handcuff in San Francisco when he returns, which could be as soon as Sunday night against the Chargers, and many fantasy football owners will be wondering if he’s worth starting.
Mitchell (knee) will be activated off injured reserve for the 49ers’ game against the Chargers on Sunday night, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Earlier this week, the second-year running back was activated from injured reserve.
Mitchell’s return is timely, as the 49ers’ running back depth is in doubt following the trade of Jeff Wilson Jr.
