Two teams from the Eastern Conference meet on the shores of Lake Erie to play for a victory. The Toronto Raptors will be playing the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road this Sunday evening.
The Cavaliers lead the regular season series with the Raptors 53-50, but the Raptors have won the last four games in a row between the two teams.
The latest injury update for Raptors vs. Cavaliers game
On Sunday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the visiting Toronto Raptors hoping to end the Raptors’ three-game losing streak while the Raptors try to extend their season-best winning streak to five games.
On Saturday afternoon, the Raptors beat the Detroit Pistons 95-91 on the road to extend their winning streak to four games.
The Raptors are in playoff contention, having won seven of their last eight games, but they will be on the road for the next seven of those eight.
For the second consecutive game, Fred VanVleet (personal) was not available for Toronto.
Due to recent personal obligations, VanVleet was excused from Friday’s practice and will therefore miss a second consecutive game. It is unknown if the 28-year-old will be available for Sunday’s game against Cleveland.
- Pascal Siakam – Ready
Pascal Siakam scored 29 points and added 8 boards, 3 steals, and 2 blocks in the Raptors’ win over the Pistons.
“We just continue to play together, try to minimize the mistakes and fight through everything,” said Siakam, who scored eight points late in the fourth quarter. “It’s not going to be perfect, but as long as we’re together we’ll help each other on defense.”
“We had a lot of games we could have won and been in a different spot,” Siakam said. “We put ourselves in this situation. That happens in life and we’ve just got to continue to focus on the task ahead.”
Injury reports: Fred VanVleet (Personal) and Otto Porter Jr. (Foot)
Meantime, the Cavaliers continued their losing streak on Friday night, falling to the Atlanta Hawks 136-119 in Atlanta. This came after the team’s first game after the All-Star break on Thursday, a 115-109 loss to the Denver Nuggets at home.
Over the course of 32 minutes, Mitchell contributed 19 points (6-17 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), a rebound, three assists, and a steal.
Mitchell, who shot 22 times and scored 22 points against the Nuggets on Thursday, took a step backwards Friday by failing to score 20 points for the third time this month.
However, Mitchell is regarded as one of the league’s top offensive players, so he should be able to right the ship in short order. After nine games in February, he is still averaging a healthy 24.4 points per game.
Injury reports: None.
