By January 6, the Dodgers must decide whether to re-sign pitcher Trevor Bauer or release him and absorb the remainder of his salary.
Can Trevor Bauer play for the Dodgers again?
Bauer was recently reinstated from the restricted list after an independent arbitrator reduced a 324-game suspension to 194. MLB suspended him for violating the league’s joint policy on domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.
Bauer and his representatives have insisted that he did not do so. MLB insiders have spent the time since the announcement speculating on what strategy the Dodgers will employ.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, some Dodgers players may not want the pitcher back on the team.
Trevor Bauer is expected to be released by the Dodgers after his suspension was reduced by 130 games and he became eligible for the 2023 season. People in their clubhouse are said to prefer he be somewhere else.
The LA Times reported a similar sentiment shortly after Bauer was initially placed on administrative leave in July of 2021. The allegations were said to have turned Bauer into a “pariah in his own clubhouse” at the time.
Of course, the team’s composition has changed significantly since then. Heyman believes the Dodgers are poised to release Bauer and cut their losses.
