The 2023 NBA Playoffs continue Wednesday, with the Golden State Warriors taking on the Sacramento Kings in Game 5 of the Western Conference first-round series.
Kings vs. Warriors injuries: 1 Questionable, 3 Out
Following losses in the first two games of the series at Golden 1 Center (126-123 and 114-106), the Golden State Warriors have won two straight at home (114-97 and 126-125).
The current NBA champions narrowly defeated the Kings last Sunday, who had a chance to win on the final possession but Harrison Barnes missed a jumper at the buzzer.
Stephen Curry had 32 points and four assists, Klay Thompson had 26 points and three assists, and Jordan Poole had 22 points and four assists.
Draymond Green came off the bench and finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a plus-eight net rating.
The Warriors also crushed the Kings in Game 3 despite the absence of Draymond Green, who was suspended for one game.
Steph Curry scored 36 points against Sacramento in that comfortable 17-point win, and he’s now averaging 31.5 points per game this postseason on 48.9% shooting from the field.
Last Sunday, the Sacramento Kings lost a fantastic opportunity to push the Warriors to the brink of elimination. Now they must deal with De’ Aaron Fox’s injured finger, and if the Kings’ starting point guard does not suit up for Game 5, they will be in major danger.
This postseason, Fox averages 31.5 points and 7.0 assists per game. In Game 4, he had 38 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, while Domantas Sabonis had 14 points, seven boards, and eight assists.
Fox (finger) is doubtful for Game 5.
Fox has stated that he will play on Wednesday, but the Kings have listed him as questionable for Game 5 due to a left index finger fracture. While he is likely to be elevated to available, it is unknown whether he will play with any restrictions.
If Fox is truly out, the burden of lifting the Kings will fall on Sabonis, who was the victim of Draymond Green’s kick.
