In and of itself, a social media post is harmless. Regardless of the message behind these posts, fans and pundits alike can often read too much into them.
Aaron Judge’s Instagram post sends Yankees fans into a frenzy
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees thanked fans after winning the American League MVP award. Is he on his way out, or is this a sign that he’ll return?
The most important line in Judge’s caption is “Thank you to the fans and the city of New York- it has been a privilege to earn this award in pinstripes.”
While Judge’s message is written in the past tense, it is technically correct given that the season is over. It doesn’t mean he’s planning an early exit, though some will undoubtedly interpret it as such.
Others, of course, believe Judge’s caption signals his return. Which is it?
However, regardless of the message behind these posts, fans and pundits alike can frequently overinterpret them.
Yankees fans are no different. With AL MVP Aaron Judge set to enter the free agent market this winter, fans are looking for any indication of his intentions.
Could a simple post thanking fans for their support be a foreshadowing of his departure from New York?

9, $337 million is a massive offer for Aaron Judge and I’m not sure why I see people laughing at it. One more year than I thought and about the dollar total I expected to land at.

A contract for Aaron Judge with the New York Yankees was reported a few days ago. While it is impossible to confirm, Dominican journalist Ramon Carmona reported this offseason that New York made its first offer to Aaron Judge.
According to Carmona, the offer was worth $337 million, but the length of the deal is unknown.
One would think that $337 million is in the ballpark of what Judge’s team would expect.
Judge is reportedly seeking more than $300 million, which he has undoubtedly earned after this season.
Nonetheless, Judge is not in a hurry to sign the contract because he will most likely have plenty of suitors this winter. Winter meetings have yet to occur, and contract negotiations will heat up at that time.
