Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of mysteries, and one of them is the imposter lurking among your companions. Here’s how you can expose them.
How to Identify and Confront the Imposter in Baldur’s Gate 3
No sooner do you set foot in the foreboding Wyrm’s Crossing Fortress than Lord Gortash tips you off about a devious doppelganger who has infiltrated your party. While Gortash is not to be trusted, he speaks the truth in this case.
Finding the Imposter
To unveil the identity thief, delve into the dank eastern section of Baldur’s Gate’s City Sewers. Interrogating your comrades will prove fruitless, so make your way underground via the sewer entrance in the Elfsong Tavern, which doubles as the Emperor’s lair.
Venturing into the fetid tunnels, the scoundrel will reveal themselves, morphing into one of your allies like Gale, Lae’zel or Halsin. In my playthrough, the backstabber took Yenna’s form – luck of the draw there. Save scumming can shuffle their disguise, but that’s just the beginning…
They will offer freedom for the real hostage in exchange for your cooperation. Refuse, and you’ll embark on a quest to liberate your companion from their clutches – no simple feat. Either way, the cat is out of the bag.
Rescuing Your Companion
To recover your companion, defeat the villain at the Temple of Bhaal. They’ll have your friend chained to a grim ritual altar. Dialogue is key here – the wrong responses can prompt an instant kill. I intimidated the fiend into a proper boss fight.
Vanquishing the baddie before the cultists finish their ritual is paramount, lest your ally meet a grisly end. Victorious, loot the altar keys from the fallen foes to release your true comrade from bondage.
In the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, finding the imposter is just the beginning. Your journey is like a story full of choices and surprises. It’s not only about discovering the truth but also about how your decisions shape the story. As you navigate through the twists and turns, remember that Baldur’s Gate 3 is about being brave and smart as you uncover secrets in the shadows.
