In this guide, we’ll go over how to get new spell slots in Hogwarts Legacy and change your loadout to suit your playstyle.
How to change your loadout and get additional spell slots in Hogwarts Legacy
Change your loadout
You can change your 16 spells in the Spell Selection Menu by pressing the right D-Pad button (or PC equivalent). In the top left corner of your screen, you’ll see a small highlight of the Spell Set you’re currently viewing.
To switch sets, press R2/RT (or the PC equivalent) and use the arrow keys to select the desired Spell Set. To assign a spell to your new spell slots, repeat the process: press R2/RT (or PC equivalent) while your cursor is over the assigning spell, then press the control button corresponding to the slot you want to go into.
To switch between Spell Set loadouts while exploring or fighting, press R2/RT (or the PC equivalent) and use the arrow keys corresponding to the spell set you want to change to.
Get additional spell slots
The only way to get more spell slots is via Talents, which are essential skill points you gain with each level starting at level 5 and can be unlocked by completing the main story quest, Jackdaw’s Rest. If you’re already well above Level 5, you’ll receive additional Talent Points per level. So, if you’re at Level 15, you’ll start with 10 Talent Points.
Spell Knowledge l, Spell Knowledge ll, and Spell Knowledge lll are three skills that can be unlocked for one additional Spell Set each in the Core category. For the first two tiers, the minimum level requirement is 5, and for the third, it is 16. Unlocking these will give you an additional Spell Set with four spell slots, giving you a total of 16 spell slots if you include the 4 spell slots in the Spell Set you already possess.
Increasing your spell slots and switching your loadout in Hogwarts Legacy is as simple as following these steps.
