Scottie Barnes, Toronto’s most reliable player this year, is dealing with a wrist injury that could limit his playing time.
Injury report Raptors forward Scottie Barnes
The Raptors’ hopes of making the NBA Playoffs are heavily dependent on staying healthy, so any setbacks they may suffer as a result of injuries would be problematic.
It’s no secret that if Barnes isn’t close to 100 percent, the Raptors won’t be able to play to their potential.
Barnes appeared to injure his left wrist while defending Giannis Antetokounmpo late in the second quarter of a loss to the Bucks on March 19. Soon before halftime, Barnes left the court and was subsequently declared out for the remainder of the contest.
Barnes’ wrist did not show any fractures on X-ray, but he will undergo more tests in Toronto to determine the extent of his injury.
Scottie Barnes career stats, highlights
Adding to his impressive rookie season, Barnes has started all 69 games he has played in this year, averaging 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.
- 15.4 points per game
- 7.2 rebounds per game
- 4.1 assists per game
- 1.0 steals per game
- 47.3 percent field goal shooting
- 29.9 percent 3-point field goal shooting
- 75.5 percent free throw shooting
How long will Scottie Barnes be out?
The extent of Barnes’ injury is the most important factor in determining his prognosis. While preliminary X-rays showed no serious damage, Barnes’ wrist injury may require further evaluation to determine if he will miss any games.
Unfortunately, there are only ten games left in the regular season, so the injury comes at a bad time. Now that they’ve entered a pivotal stretch, Toronto has a chance to improve their Play-In Tournament positioning by climbing as high as eighth in the East.
