Jeremy Renner lost ‘serious amount of blood’ as horror accident details emerge
UPDATE (Jan. 6): Jeremy Renner has provided another update from the hospital as he recovers from the snow plow accident that left him critically injured.
Renner shared his first video update from the hospital. The actor’s eye is swollen shut and he is seen breathing through an oxygen mask, but he appears to be in good spirits as his family members massage his scalp.
UPDATE: Jeremy Renner’s family has provided an update on his condition following surgery: “We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today (2 January),”
Renner was airlifted to the hospital and is in a ‘critical but stable condition’ after a reported accident in which a snow plough ‘ran over one of his legs’ on Sunday when the safety feature on his Snow Cat plough reportedly failed and sent it rolling over one of his legs.
According to reports, the Hawkeye star was plowing the road near his family’s property near the Mt Rose-Ski Tahoe resort near Lake Tahoe, which is about 25 miles from Reno, Nevada.
Following a “massive storm” on New Year’s Eve, Jeremy is said to have been attempting to clear a path out for his family.
According to reports, the actor’s injuries were caused by a Snow Cat ploughing machine, which caused him to lose “a lot of blood” and suffer “extensive” injuries to his leg and other parts of his body.
According to TMZ: “A neighbour, who’s a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived,”
“We’re told the area was treated like an active crime scene … with police arriving at 8pm to impound the Snowcat, which Jeremy’s previously posted video of himself using on his property after snowstorms.
“The issue, we’re told, is the machine has extensive safety features, and should not have rolled over Jeremy.”
Jeremy’s representative informed fans of the star’s condition earlier on Monday, explaining that he is in stable condition: “critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow”.
In a previous statement, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office stated: “At approximately 9:00am on January 1, 2023, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada.
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital.
“Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident.
“The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident.”
