While new costumes for Kirara and Nilou are on the horizon, HoYoverse is taking character customization a step further. Forget 5-Star skins with elaborate animations – Version 4.8 introduces “Trail Appearances,” a fresh cosmetic type acquired via Imaginarium Theater keys.
Unlocking the Trail
Seele Leaks, a trusted community source, revealed the first batch of characters receiving Trail Appearances: Diluc, Kirara, Ningguang, Qiqi, and Jean. These special effects manifest whenever the character is in motion, adding a unique visual flair. Details regarding the visual style and complexity remain under wraps.
To unlock a Trail Appearance, players will spend two Trail Keys, granting access to a dedicated character challenge stage. Here’s the catch: participating in these “Pictorial Trails” requires your character to be Level 90 and Friendship Rank 8. Successfully completing the challenge unlocks the Trail Appearance option on the character screen.
The Future of the Imaginarium Theater
With this update, HoYoverse seems committed to using the Imaginarium Theater as a platform for secondary character customization, offering alternatives to full-fledged alternate outfits. The frequency of updates for Photo Mode poses and Trail Appearances remains unclear.
