What is Genshin Impact Scarab ?
Scarab is a new Local Specialty introduced in the 3.1 update. They can only be found west of the Ashavan Realm in Sumeru’s Great Red Sand region. Scarab, unlike other Ascension materials, has only one use: leveling up Cyno.
They have yet to be used in any other recipe, crafting or otherwise. Candace requires Redcrest fruits for her ascensions, so no other characters use Scarab, though this may change as Sumeru updates continue to arrive.
All Genshin Impact Scarab locations & farming tips
With only 76 available, it will take at least three farm trips to gather enough Scarab for Cyno to reach level 90. If you have Tighnari in your party, you should bring him along. His passive ability labels the locations of Sumeru specialties on the mini-map, making them easier to find if you’re having difficulty finding them.
Remember that the Scarab move around a little bit, so the precise locations might differ slightly from those shown on these pictures.
Aaru Village Scarabs
The beetles are near the two waypoints north of the village. The map images make it appear as if you must climb the cliffs, but this is not the case.
To get the first Scarab, begin with the Statue of the Seven and work your way back to the road. Then return to the northwest waypoint and head northeast to gather the remaining Scarabs.
Eye of the Sands Scarabs
You may need to deal with the sentinels first before grabbing these.
Turn west after teleporting to the waypoint, then pass the gateway and Primal Construct enemies. Make your way towards the road as you head southwest.
Dune of Carouses Scarabs
There aren’t many above ground, just a few in the area around the Domain and a cluster to the north of the mausoleum.
Scarabs on the Dune of Carousels are more complicated. The cluster in the dune pyramid itself is underground, though it is not immediately accessible. Except for a small cluster of three Scarabs immediately north of the mausoleum, the majority of the Scarabs in the desert between the Domain and the mausoleum are also underground.
Use the northeastern waypoint to enter the pyramid quickly once you have access to the underground. You can easily reach the remaining Scarabs from the waypoint in the center of the desert. For the norhwest cluster, unlock the Garden of Endless Pillars Domain, then go there and collect the Scarabs.
Dune of Elusion Scarabs
Most of Scarabs in Dune of Elusion are underground.
Sobek Oasis Scarabs
Sobek Oasis is a catch-all term for these, as their rolling grounds extend east to the area south of Aaru Village.
Valley of Dahri Scarabs
There aren’t many in the valley, and you won’t have to sift through it to find them.
In The Valley of Dahri, you’ll be hopping around a lot. Begin by grabbing the Scarabs around the Statue of the Seven, then drop down the ledge to the southeast to collect the two Scarabs there.
Go to the central waypoint and head northwest to find the Scarab, then southwest to find the rest. The scarab beetle closest to the waypoint is perched atop a hill. You can use the Four-Leaf Sigil to get it easier.

Other Scarab locations
Head northwest of Aaru village during the day to find a child named Nawaz. He will give you four for free, but this will only happen once.
