Originally planned to launch on July 25th and be a day one title for Xbox Game Pass, Frostpunk 2 has been delayed by developer 11 bit studios.
Frostpunk 2 Release Delayed to September 20th for Improved Experience
This news comes from developer 11 bit studios, following the game’s beta testing phase. While the beta garnered a positive average rating of 8 out of 10, the studio reveals they’ve been busy analyzing feedback and prioritizing additional features.
In a message to players, 11 bit studios acknowledges the disappointment the delay may cause. However, they firmly believe these extra features deserve to be part of the launch experience, not something added later via patches.
“We can only hope you understand that our decision comes from a place of wanting to create the best game possible for you,” the studio writes.
So what exciting new stuff can we expect come September 20th? The developers hint at “new additions to the game mechanics, extensive UI & UX enhancement,” and a new city feature called “Zoom Stories,” which allows players to get a closer look at the daily lives of their citizens.
For those who have been eagerly awaiting Frostpunk 2, this wait will surely be worth it. As Eurogamer’s Bertie points out, the sequel focuses less on weather as the primary threat and more on the complexities of human society. “You’ll spend your time preoccupied by a storm of a different kind,” he writes, “a people-shaped storm, a societal storm. And if you fail to manage that properly, it will end you.”
Mark your calendars for September 20th, Frostpunk 2 is set to deliver a deep and challenging city-building experience with a focus on human nature, all within the PC Game Pass library.
